Microsoft Guatemala decided to move their corporate headquarters to a new location in the Interamiericas Financial Center in Guatemala City. We where invited to participate in a project bid to integrate a interior design and planning for the project. The project constituted moving all staff to the new office but wanted to create new, innovative, collaborative, dynamic spaces what reflected and implemented the central concepts of Microsoft technology as connectivity and mobility.
The design brief also wanted to integrate all of the technology for office functions, but also wanted to create a sense of belonging to thee users, in a subtle, elegant and balanced way. In the design process visual graphic motives where introduced to the surfaces, with elements that reminisce Guatemalan folklore in textiles through color and geometric shapes.
In the process the required to value engineer the initial construction budget, with an collaborative approach with the team, we managed to reduce a 40% budget.
